Do you ever look to see if there’s a difference between the barley beside the road and the barley in the fields, knowing that the road produces it’s own heat?”

This was my reply: ” Never, it doesn’t qualify. To me it is totally irrelevant. If I did that I could show you oats in the head at roadside which would make you think the barley WOULD be ready in a month. But the heat from asphalt propels the plants into an unnatural stage of development.”

Today I made a short video to SHOW you what a roadside does to the development of the plants that come up alongside of the roads in Israel. As they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words” or in our case a video.

The last minute of the video is simply the pavement being filmed as I walk. You will hear the low battery indicator go off in the video, for whatever reason the touchscreen refused to allow me to turn off the live video. So unless you just want to look at Israeli asphalt you can turn off the video when I finish talking.

I hope in the next few days to take you to a field and explain what ‘goat grass’ is so that you will know that there are areas in fields that do not qualify as well.

All of these types of questions are welcomed. I love taking you all with me in the process. The knowledge and the journey should not belong to just one person or even just a few.

I did say the barley was 30 days from being fully mature, I meant to say “THE BARLEY IS 60 DAYS OUT FROM BEING FULLY MATURE” as in hard to the tooth karmel. I am waiting to hear back from Brian Convery to confirm my evaluation of the barley. He has many more years in this than I have.

If there are no weather anomalies we should see a March 19 new year (Rosh HaShanah) and Sunday, April 8 Wave Sheaf for First Fruits.Updated Feb 2, 2018, 5:47 AM
